Director, Inventory Accounting

For immediate consideration Our client, a well-established and growing firm, is looking for a Director, Inventory Accounting. Responsibilities will include: ? Reconciliation between the inventory Stock Ledger and General Ledger. ? Ensure in-transit inventory is properly reported and accounted for. ? Ensure physical and cycle count physical inventories for the retail stores and distribution centers are booked properly ? Review and report results and reconcile variances. ? Day-to-day inventory accounting operations and work closely with cross-functional counterparts in our distribution centers and supply chain functions to develop and maintain policies and processes to handle new or existing transaction streams. ? Analyze inventory reserves and recommend required reserves in accordance with policy, including shortage analysis, lower of cost or market, obsolescence and returns reserve. ? Assist in the analysis and reporting of inventory obsolescence. ? Analyze mark out of stock transactions and trends. ? Process various month-end journals applicable to inventory, revenue and COGS and prepare related month-end reconciliations. ? Analyze month end reports for variances to forecast and budget and follow up on unusual variances to ensure understanding. ? Support process flow initiatives conducted by Supply Chain and ensure that accurate accounting and valuation of inventory is maintained. ? Recognize financial accounting risks and recommend controls to mitigate risks. ? Interface with outside auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits. ? Assist with preparation of various audit and financial statement schedules. ? Lead and monitor the implementation of controls related to SOX for inventory department. ? Create and maintain procedural documentation for inventory accounting to comply with SOX requirements. ? Provide support in the monthly/quarterly testing of SOX controls and ensure adherence around the key controls is achieved. ? Review and perform an analysis of all Other COGS. ? Review sales and royalty payments to various designers. ? Review margin by channel. ? Key player in business changes that impact operational accounting.
REQUIREMENTS ? Minimum of 10 years' accounting experience, including 4-6 years with Manager or Director-level responsibilities ? Must have strong skills in understanding detail mapping and understanding transactional inventory process flows ? Self-starter that takes the initiative to tackle issues and solve problems ? Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills ? Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment ? Desire to get into details and problem solve for issues, many times with high levels of data ? Strong excel skills ? Strong interpersonal skills ? A strong understanding of finance and accounting pertaining to sales, inventory, COGS and margin analysis ? Required to work cross-functionally with other departments ? Inventory or costing, general ledger and/or supply chain support required ? Retail or manufacturing or warehouse management experience preferred ? Proven track record to drive and implement process improvements and maintain compliance on key business processes ? Ability to present results to Senior Executives ? Capable of documenting process, procedures and policies ? CPA preferred with Strong Accounting skills ? Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or equivalent ? Experience working with non-financial merchant groups, IT and warehouse inventory control preferred ? Experience with Oracle Financials, CommercialWare, STS, Hyperion a plus ? The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
